About

Hello! I’m Susan Hill Husij. I’m a retired State of Arizona employee, residing in Phoenix, Arizona. But I’m a native Texan and grew up in Old Waverly during the 1950’s and 60’s. During my childhood, the tiny population consisted largely of descendants of those early pioneers. The beautiful old Presbyterian church, still active today, was the glue that held the community together.  Today mother nature has largely reclaimed any traces of the town that had once existed, but the rich cultural history remains. The stories of the early settlers who founded Waverly, who carved a town out of a forest, intrigue me and inspire a curiosity to both know more about them and to help preserve their history. I’d really love to share what I’ve discovered and hope others will join in the conversations.
